Soup in a Bread Bowl

Many times, a simple recipe can be presented beautifully, adding to the overall taste of a dish. In this case, hearty soup is served in a round loaf of unleavened bread.
If you wish to impress you guests or close ones, we propose you take some time to prepare this culinary wonder - Czech goulash soup. Trust us, the process is not as difficult as it may seem at first.

Step 1:

Ingredients (2 Servings)

 

2 loaves of fresh unleavened Kusher bread

1 lb beef

8 cups beef broth

3 oz creamy butter

2 lbs potatoes

4 tbsp flour

2 shallots or small onions

1 tbsp sweet paprika

1/2 tsp cumin

1/2 tsp marjoram

salt and pepper to taste

Step 2:

Chop the onions finely. Cut the meat into small pieces. Melt 1.5 oz of butter in a pot, then add the chopped shallots and sauté on medium-low heat until translucent. Add the beef and sauté for an additional 5 minutes, sprinkling with sweet paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Add the broth, and allow to boil, then simmer for one hour.

Chop the potatoes into medium-sized pieces and add to the soup. In a separate saucepan, melt the remaining butter and whisk in the flour, then cook until the mixture is a golden brown. Add in some broth from the soup into the flour mixture, and use a whisk to get rid of lumps. Then add this mixture to the soup. Cook for an additional half hour. When done, add the marjoram to the soup.
